Being the coordinator of this very significant body of our heritage college puts a great obligation on me to stand firm and fastidious to meet its objectives. The Internal Complaints Committee against Sexual Harassment of Women (ICC-SHW) of the college remains always active towards sensitization of the staff and the students to gender-related issues through workshops, self-defense training programs, debates, and quizzes. In all my endeavors as an ICC-SHW coordinator, the prime objective is that the women and girls on the campus feel free to avail the academic opportunities without any disability of gender identity.
The constitution of our country guarantees fundamental rights to all its citizens. One of the most significant of the fundamental rights which put an obligation on the state to facilitate equal opportunity to all its citizens without any discrimination with regard to gender, caste, creed, or place of birth is the right to non-discrimination with regard to availability of equal opportunities. To honor the sanctity of the fundamental right to the availability of an equitous and non-discriminatory environment at work/ public places, the Supreme Court of India and the Indian parliament have promulgated guidelines and enacted laws to ensure the providence of gender-healthy environment and work conditions in public places. Ours is one of the biggest co-educational colleges in the country where more than 10 thousand students are pursuing education at a time along with 700 plus staff. Further, the ICC entertains all the complaints of the staff and the students and resolves the matter in a time-bound manner through prompt investigative intervention.
